- HS SOFTBALL - Lady Hounds Split With Fairfied
The Lady Hounds split with Fairfield Monday night, June 26. Fairfield won the first game 5-1. And the Lady Hounds came through in the end when Dalyn Wondra singled in the top of the seventh and drove in two runs, putting the ladies past second-ranked Fairfield 9-7. Schmidt led off the seventh with a base hit and went to second on a wild pitch. After a fly out to center, Parsons drew a walk as a pinch-hitter. Vanessa Golowach moved the runners with a ground out, then Wondra hit in the tying and go-ahead run with her single. Bailey had hit a home run in the first inning, scoring Olivia Williams, who had singled. The Trojans scored all seven of their runs in the second inning for a 7-2 lead. In the fifth inning, Wondra singled, Kylee Cashman double, and Lowney tripled for the first two runs of the inning. Williams walked, and Schmidt reached first on a fielder’s choice, scoring Lowney. Williams scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-6, Fairfield. Cashman singled, and Lowney doubled her in in the sixth to tie the game. That set up the Wondra wonder, |
