06/04/2017 - HS BASEBALL - Hounds vs Washington

The FM Bloodhound varsity boy's baseball team lost a pair of games to Washington Friday in the Southeast Conference opener.  Washington won the first game 8-3 and the second game 16-1. The nightcap went six innings, with the Demons erupting for eight runs in the top of the sixth.  In the second game, Elijah Barnes singled in the Hounds’ only run, scoring A.J. Nolting, who had walked. Jordyn Gerdes had the other hit.  Dayne Cordray started, and Logan Allen, Diegoi Lozano and Brady Reynolds followed in relief.  Lennon Barker walked twice, and Bill Young, Lozano and Reynolds each walked once.

 

The Hounds lost two non-conference games to West Burlington last Wednesday. The Falcons won 8-6 and 7-5.  In the second game, the Hounds scored five runs in the first two innings but West Burlington chipped away.  Elijah Barnes hit a three-run home run in the first but then drew three walks.Tyler O’Tool and Aaron Steffensmeier each singled, and Allen, Young and Steffensmeier each walked twice.Cordray, Young, O’Tool and Jace Burgher also scored.Brandon Reichelt was the losing pitcher. He gave up two runs and two hits in four innings. He struck out four and walked four. Allen and Barker followed in relief.
