- HS BOYS BASEBALL - Hounds Over Hawks 5-4
The FM Bloodhound varsity boys baseball team took on the Central Lee Hawks Thursday night, July3rd at FMHS. The Hounds scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to beat the Hawks 5-4 . Some stats and highlights are listed below.Central Lee came back from a 4-0 deficit to force extra innings, but the Hounds scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to beat the Hawks 5-4.
Isiah Savala singled with one-out and advanced to third on a double by Dale Degan. Central Lee intentionally walked Clayton Poe to load the bases, and Chase Seaney singled to end the game.
The Hounds scored two runs in the second inning and added two more runs in the fifth inning. The Hawks tied the game with four runs in the top of the sixth. Rick Galle drove in one run and Blake Burgess drove in two runs with a single.
Luis Galle was 2 for 3 with a run scored to lead the Hawks at the plate. Burgess was 1 for 3 with a walk. Rick Galle was 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. Tyler Bryant scored a run and stole a base. Gabe Halstead walked and stole a base. Ben Rooney scored a run, and Matt Derr reached on a walk.
Keiten Benner took the loss in relief. He allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Benner walked four and struck out seven.
Halstead allowed two unearned runs in two innings pitched. He walked three and struck out two.
Billy Coppage pitched a complete game for the Hounds. He allowed two earned runs on four hits. He walked four and struck out 12. Lane Gray and Bill Young each were 2 for 3 at the plate.
