09/09/2013 - HS VOLLEYBALL - Lady Hounds At Quincy Tourney

The Fort Madison Bloodhound varsity volleyball team traveled to Quincy, Illinois Saturday, September 7th to participate in the Quincy High School Tournament. The Lady Hounds won two out of five matches on the day. It included a consolation bracket victory over Springfield Lanphier 25-22, 25-11. The Lady Hounds then lost to East St. Louis, a team they beat in pool play.

In pool play, FM beat East St. Louis 25-16, 25-20. The Lady Hounds then lost to United Township of East Moline 25-21, 22-25, 15-7 and to the host Blue Devils 25-8, 25-16. After beating Lanphier in the consolation round, they lost to East St. Louis 11-25, 25-21, 17-15. Meagan Hoenig had 49 kills. Kayla Culbertson had 23 kills, Paige Leffler 14, Rachel Steffensmeier eight, Kaylin Featheringill six and Caitlin Marshall five. Leffler made five blocks, Hoenig four and Culbertson, Featheringill, and Marshall two. Culbertson led the ladies in assists with 38 and Sydney Kruse 21. Erin Craig served 48 of 53 with eight aces, Hoenig 36 of 37 with seven aces, Culbertson 32 of 33 having four aces, Kruse 40 of 43 with four aces, Icie Rhoer 30 of 31 with three aces and Rachel Steffensmeier 33 of 34 with two aces. Craig led in digs with 50, Steffensmeier had 29, Culbertson 27, Rhoer 25, and Kruse 16.
